Response deadline

Reason codes and rules change, and your processor sets its own response window, usually shorter than the network's. Confirm the due date shown in your processor's dashboard. This is general information and not legal advice.

Common questions

What is a chargeback reason code?

It is the code the card network attaches to a dispute to explain the cardholder's claim, such as fraud, product not received or not as described. It tells you what kind of evidence to submit.

How long do I have to respond?

The deadline depends on your processor and the network. Many processors set it between 7 and 21 days from the dispute date. Always follow the date shown in your processor dashboard.
